Twitter's Encrypted Messaging Service Now Available for Verified Users

Twitter, the social media giant, has made another update to its platform, allowing verified users to have early access to its encrypted messaging service. The update is not yet available to all users, but Elon Musk shared a tweet from the official Twitter handle that suggests a rollout for more users in the future.

The tweet states that users can say goodbye to prying eyes and hello to secure conversations with the early access to Encrypted Direct Messages v1. The tweet also expresses excitement to receive feedback, improve the experience, and roll out the service to more users.

Musk also tweeted an update about the launch of the early iteration of the encrypted message. He advised users to try it out but not to trust it completely yet. On Wednesday, Musk announced that users could direct message reply to any message in the thread with emojis. Moreover, Twitter is set to introduce voice and video chat in the coming days for better communication.

“With the latest version of the app, you can DM reply to any message in the thread (not just most recent) and use any emoji reaction. The release of encrypted DMs V1.0 should happen tomorrow. This will grow in sophistication rapidly. The acid test is that I could not see your DMs even if there was a gun to my head. Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number,” Musk tweeted.

It’s worth noting that Twitter is also removing accounts with no activity for several years. Meanwhile, Twitter CEO Musk has announced that he will be stepping down from his post after a few weeks. The billionaire has decided not to function as Twitter CEO and has hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. He did not name the person but announced that the new CEO would take charge in about six weeks. Musk will oversee products, software, and sysops in the foreseeable future.
