Tragedy struck in the Botad district of Gujarat as five children drowned in Krishna Sagar Lake on Saturday. The incident occurred when two children were swimming in the lake and started drowning. Three other children present at the spot jumped into the lake to save them, but all five of them drowned. The deceased are all minors, and their identities are yet to be confirmed.
After receiving information from locals around 4:30 pm, the police reached the spot and immediately began a rescue operation. Despite their efforts, the children could not be saved. Botad SP Kishor Balolia stated that the age of the deceased children is between 16-17 years and further investigation is underway.
This unfortunate incident has left the community in shock and serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety measures, especially for children.
