The Indian government has rejected a recent US religious freedom report that mentions the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 28 times, stating that the report is “flawed, motivated, and biased”. The annual report, released by the US State Department, lists several instances of religious violence and discrimination in India.

The report notes that the BJP-led government has been involved in several incidents of religious violence, including the 2020 Delhi riots, where more than 50 people were killed. It also highlights the government’s handling of the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens, which have been criticized for being discriminatory against Muslims.

The Indian government has rejected the report, stating that it is an attempt to interfere in the country’s internal affairs. The government has also accused the US of double standards, stating that it has ignored instances of religious discrimination in its own country.

The US report has also been criticized by several Indian politicians and organizations, who have accused the US of biased reporting and interference in India’s domestic affairs. The BJP has dismissed the report as “selective and flawed”, stating that it fails to acknowledge the government’s efforts to promote religious harmony and tolerance in the country.

The issue of religious freedom and discrimination has been a contentious issue in India, with several incidents of violence and discrimination being reported in recent years. The government’s handling of these issues has been a subject of criticism by several organizations and countries, including the US.
