Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma got off to a flying start, putting on 85 runs for the first wicket in just 7.4 overs. Sharma was dismissed for 27, but de Kock continued his aggressive approach and scored 38 off just 28 deliveries.
Suryakumar Yadav then took center stage and played a magnificent knock, scoring an unbeaten 120 off just 58 balls. His innings were studded with 12 fours and 4 sixes and he played some breathtaking shots all around the ground. He was well-supported by Hardik Pandya, who scored a quickfire 30 off 11 balls.
In response, Gujarat Titans got off to a decent start, with openers Dwayne Smith and Aaron Finch putting on 45 runs for the first wicket. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually fell short of the target, finishing at 190/7 in their 20 overs. The IPL is currently being held in a bio-secure bubble in the United Arab Emirates, with all matches being played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
